Reforestation in Numbo Local Level Government Villages - Funded by UNDP
UNDP Environmental Conservation and Reforestation Awareness Campaign in Numbo Local Level Government Area
The Kubalia Tertiary Student Union (KTSU), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Environmental Conservation initiative, conducted a Reforestation Awareness Campaign across the Numbo Local Level Government Area to promote sustainable environmental practices and encourage communities to protect and restore their natural forests. The campaign was carried out in Handradogum, Tangori 2, Kuakom, Pampanieng, and Huarupmogum villages, focusing on educating local communities about the importance of forests and the role they play in supporting human life, biodiversity, climate balance, and future generations.
The awareness program aimed to increase community understanding of the impacts of deforestation and the importance of restoring damaged forest areas through replanting. KTSU members encouraged villagers to take responsibility for protecting their environment by planting native tree species that originally grew in their local areas. By promoting the reintroduction of indigenous trees, the campaign sought to restore natural habitats, protect soil and water resources, and maintain the ecological balance of the communities.
Through this initiative, KTSU worked closely with local villagers to promote environmental stewardship and community participation in conservation efforts. The campaign highlighted that protecting forests is not only an environmental responsibility but also an investment in the future livelihoods, health, and wellbeing of current and future generations. The Reforestation Awareness Campaign reflects KTSU’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and empowering rural communities with knowledge and practices that contribute to a greener and more resilient environment.
