Local Wildlife Conservation of Wild Horses in Urimo

Wild Horse Conservation Awareness Program in Urimo, Sauso Local Level Government Area

The Kubalia Tertiary Student Union (KTSU) conducted a Wild Horse Conservation Awareness Program in Urimo, Sauso Local Level Government Area, Yangoru-Saussia District, East Sepik Province, with support from the people of New Zealand through the Government of New Zealand. The program focused on promoting the protection and conservation of wild horses as an important part of the local environment, cultural heritage, and biodiversity.

The awareness aimed to educate local communities about the importance of preserving the wild horse population and protecting their natural habitat. KTSU members highlighted the need for responsible environmental practices, community involvement, and sustainable conservation approaches to ensure that wild horses continue to survive for future generations. The campaign also encouraged communities to recognize the ecological and cultural value of these unique animals and to work together in safeguarding them from threats that may affect their survival.

Through this initiative, KTSU promoted greater understanding of wildlife conservation and the importance of maintaining harmony between people, animals, and the natural environment. The program encouraged local participation in conservation efforts by creating awareness among community members about their role in protecting wildlife and preserving the natural heritage of Urimo.

The Wild Horse Conservation Awareness Program reflects KTSU’s commitment to supporting environmental protection, community education, and sustainable development. With the valuable support of the Government of New Zealand and its people, the initiative contributed to building awareness and strengthening local efforts to conserve one of East Sepik Province’s unique natural treasures for future generations.
